THE TASK

Catalis, a leader in government SaaS payment solutions, needed a modern, secure, and accessible cloud-based payment portal. This platform would serve a wide array of municipal and state clients, including the high-profile Massachusetts Department of Revenue (DOR). The solution had to be scalable, WCAG-compliant, and built for long-term adaptability across all future Catalis projects.


MY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Led UI design and front-end development for the new payment portal featuring numerous new payment methods.
  • Built a scalable design system based on Material Design to unify Catalis products.
  • Developed reusable Angular components to streamline future builds.
  • Collaborated closely with a newly formed team of contractors, including mentoring two junior designers.
  • Ensured strict compliance with ADA/WCAG accessibility standards.
  • Acted as a liaison between design and back-end engineering to align the product with stakeholder requirements.

SOLUTION

I collaborated cross-functionally with junior designers, stakeholders, and engineers to build a robust, component-based design system in Figma—while also coding the portal’s UI in Angular. I provided accessibility training to the team, helped shape product architecture, and became the internal go-to for payment industry standards and UI/UX best practices.


RESULTS

After successful QA cycles and a soft launch with smaller clients, the payment portal was officially deployed for the Massachusetts DOR. The launch marked a major milestone for Catalis, establishing the new portal as a scalable, accessible product that became a primary revenue stream for the company.
